FAQs

Is Chinatown Music a record label?

What we are doing is more than a record label. At Chinatown Music we work with artists to find the solutions they can count on, so they are one step closer to succeed musically. There are certain services we offer that fall into the record label role, but we think it’s more accurate to call us a community hub.

Where is Chinatown Music located?

Chinatown Music has no headquarters, as our team are digital nomads located in different cities. We don’t have a clear place to go, as we are completely online-based, just like some of our artists who could be doing their magic anywhere and everywhere, be it bedrooms, public libraries or coffee shops.

Who is Chinatown Music for?

For unsigned artists who are serious about their music dream and ready to step up their games, we believe they deserve an opportunity but not everyone will be picked up by big labels, and working alone is just impractical. At the moment artists with a Chinese background have a strong presence, but we’ve worked with artists from many cultures, be it Korean, Japanese, or even beyond Asia.

What kind of services do you provide?

There are many tools and platforms artists can use for things like production, distribution and marketing, but leaving that to us means they can focus on the one thing that’s most important - make great music. By working with a team that’s professional and experienced, artists could rely on us for solutions that meet their needs. We’ll even help make career plans, provide training, and build a dedicated profile page, so they can be confident that we’ve got their back.

How can I find out more about artists on the Chinatown Music roster?

For the latest artist information, please visit our individual artist profile pages which will also have the most current social media information for your favorite artists and bands. For additional updates, you can also follow the Chinatown Music Facebook and Twitter accounts.

How do I submit my demos and artworks to Chinatown Music for review?

Please use this form to express your interest to work with us, but kindly note that we are unable to accept materials that do not meet demo submission requirements: 1) For us to review your demos, please upload tracks to a cloud service provider (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) and share the link in the form, do not send files to us via email; 2) Include a brief introduction about yourself; 3) Share your social media accounts with us so we can connect and know more about you.

Please be aware: Chinatown Music employees will NEVER request anything of value in exchange for submitting music or securing a contract with us, or for your participation in any other activities in which Chinatown Music is engaged. Such action is directly contrary to Chinatown Music’s Code of Conduct. If anyone claiming to be affiliated with Chinatown Music fraudulently demands money from you to submit a demo, or as a purported “contract fee” or to defray “travel costs,” please be aware that this is a scam. You can report these individuals to us here.

What is Gallery by Chinatown Music?

The Gallery by Chinatown Music space is an ongoing project aimed at showcasing inspiring works by photographers and digital artists we love. We have worked with some of them in the past creating albums covers and believe we should do our part to bring their pieces to more audience.
